ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Someone put up a memorial to those pets who died in Tuesdays fire at the 3949 Apartments in the Central West End neighborhood of St. Louis City.
The Humane Society has treated and reunited four-legged survivors with the human survivors of the fire.
But early Thursday morning, we discovered crosses, pictures and candles on a parking lot next to the burned-out apartments. Someone put out a sign inviting owners to sign the cross and leave a good memory of their deceased pet. There were stuffed toys: gerbils, dogs, cats. There was also a heartbreaking picture of a kitten on the sidewalk.
Through the company’s Facebook page, the owners of the 3949 Apartments invited human survivors to check out accommodations at the Holiday Inn Viking and the Coronado. The owners say those facilities are taking residents who need housing, along with their four-legged survivors.
