ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– Tenants of the 3949 Apartments on Lindell Boulevard are voicing concerns about the building’s management.
St. Louis University thanked city firefighters, EMS, and police for their efforts in saving residents of the apartment building that erupted in a five alarm fire ten days ago.
The building was filled with many people who are students at SLU. Some of those students at the reception told FOX 2 that they lost everything and that the building’s managers convinced them to drop their renter’s insurance because the building was safe.
The building’s management, the EDS Corporation of Memphis, Tennessee, tells FOX 2 it was a misunderstanding. EDS claims it was not them, but perhaps a previous owner that said that. But students here stood by their claims. And the mayor stood by the city’s building code. This building complied with all the city codes.
Meanwhile, some students also claim fire alarms and sprinklers didn’t work properly.
Now as to the charges that sprinklers and alarms didn’t all function properly, EDS property management in Memphis also denies those charges saying everything worked as it should have. Fire department officials won’t comment on any of this until the investigation into the blaze is completed.
