Excessive Heat Warning Extended For St. Louis Area | News

ST. LOUIS ( KTVI )-  St. Louis City officials say we can expect  heat indexes of between 100 and 110 degrees each day throughout this warning. Experts say  continue to exercise caution when participating in outdoor activities. The public is  encouraged to continue to check on neighbors who may be vulnerable to the heat and special caution is also urged for anyone with small children and pets.

The effects of excessive heat are cumulative.  There are various safety tip you can take  to stay safe during the heat.  Some examples include taking  extra precautions  if you  must work or spend time outside. Reschedule strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours. Doctors say  you should know the signs and symptoms of heat stroke and heat exhaustion.  Wear light and loose fitting clothing. Drink plenty of water and avoid alcoholic beverages.
