ST. LOUIS, MO - Need help with your tax preparation? If you live in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles or metro-east Illinois and your household income was less than $51,000 in 2012 you may qualify for free tax help – and you might get more money back. The Gateway EITC Community Coalition is offering free tax help to those who qualify. For information on if you qualify, locations, dates, and documents needed see below or contact United Way at 2-1-1 or 800-427-4626. Those who qualify may also go online to file their own taxes at GatewayEITC.org.

 The goal of Sista Strut is to heighten awareness about the issues of breast cancer in women of color, as well as provide information on community resources. Studies show that African American women are more likely to get breast cancer at a younger age and have a death rate from breast cancer twice that of Caucasian women of the same age. Sista Strut recognizes the strength of survivors, their family and friends, heightens awareness, promotes early detection and the search for a cure.

(PHOENIX, July 11, 2012) – Just two weeks after their sixth annual player draft, the world famous Harlem Globetrotters have come to terms with the first of their draft picks, as Dylan Richter has decided to hang up his basketball shoes and step into the corporate office.  Richter, who recently interned with the Globetrotters’ digital team, has been hired on full-time as digital marketing manager, effective immediately.

Cancer Survivor Campaigning To Get Justin Bieber To Cardinal Glennon

When Lauren Lee was battling cancer at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center, a visit from Justin Bieber would have done wonders to lift her spirits.

"It would have just made it all better," the 13 year old from Maryville, IL, said.

Now Lee is on a campaign to make the dream a reality for her peers at the medical center.

The Mission Continues, Empowering Wounded and Disabled Veterans

 

 

 

A St. Louis organization called "The Mission Continues" is the only national non-profit group challenging post 9/11 veterans to rebuild a sense of purpose through community service.

The Mission Continues has awarded 238 fellowships in 30 states to date. Fellowships are 26 weeks long, done at local nonprofits in their communities, and Fellows are eligible for a cost-of-living stipend during their service. The organization challenges veterans to serve and lead in communities across America and is also committed to helping the men and women who have served this country honorably return to be productive members of our society.
